Images as “sculptures” The color white is the basis. Chalk, glue and white pigments are applied to the bottom layer of wood. This is followed by layer of paint after layer of paint.

When we say something is 'light', we mean it's easy to consume, something that doesn't really demand our attention. When something is heavy, it has weight, substance and depth. We have to tune in to understand it.

As a counterweight to our increasingly 'light' and distracted culture, we have chosen 'Heavy Art' as the theme for this February's exhibition at the Wiede Fabrik.

I will be showing new artworks that explore the idea of weight. My smaller canvases are the product of a repeatable process and light hand movements that create a new cast of characters.

But are these works light and less impactful compared to the larger, heavier canvases that have gone through a process of creation, loss and recovery?
